Import Export Code
- Import Export Code is required to import or export any kind of goods in India. Import export code is required by any business who wishes to import goods for its business purpose or for trading purpose. IEC is 10 digit code with a permanent validity. With the recent amendment the IEC code is the entities pan number.
- IEC is issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce and Industries. Importers are not allowed to proceed without this code and exporters can’t take benefit of exports from DGFT, customs, Export Promotion Council, if they don’t have this code.

Applicability of Import Export Code
- Register a company and open a bank account.
- Login on http://dava.gov.in:8080/dgftiec/panSearch.jsp
- Enter the PAN of the company
- Enter the mobile number and email ID on which you will receive a OTP
- Complete the entity details
- Complete the director information
- Submit the application
- Certificate is issued then and there
Steps to apply for Import Export Code are:
- In Digital Photograph (3x3cms) of the Designated Partner/Director of the Company signing the application.
- Copy of PAN card of the applicant entity.
- Copy of Passport (first & last page)/Voter’s I-Card /UID (Aadhar Card) /Driving Licence/ PAN (any one of these) of the Managing Partner/Director signing the application.
- Certificate of incorporation as issued by the RoC
- Bank Certificate as per ANF 2A(I)/Cancelled Cheque bearing preprinted name of the Company
